On Thursday, December 19, 2019, the grade 4-8 students of IHMS entertained an appreciative audience with their performance of a musical play entitled:

In addition to its engaging storyline, “A Tree Lot Christmas” was also a musical. Therefore, the concert had a lot of singing by grade 4-8 students!

This concert, like the K-3 concert from the previous day, was performed in front of an audience twice that day:

  1. A matinee performance at 1:30 p.m.
  2. An evening performance at 7:00 p.m

Parents and relatives unable to attend the evening show were happy for the opportunity to attend the matinee performance, which was identical to the evening show but a lot less crowded. Both concerts took place in the school gymnasium, which had been set up with a large stage, bleachers, and professional lighting and sound equipment.

A Tree Lot Christmas

“A Tree Lot Christmas” is a lively musical play filled with vibrant songs that deliver the truth of God’s word during the Christmas season. A group of kids sell trees outside of Mr. Carmichael’s toy store to raise money for children in need. The compassionate and fun-loving kids demonstrate the powerful love of Christ to the greedy Mr. Carmichael and invite him into the family of God.

“A Tree Lot Christmas was a tremendous success and seemed to be enjoyed by everyone in attendance. The story was very entertaining, and had a great message about the true meaning of Christmas. The beautiful props and costumes added to the appeal of the play, and the lively songs put everyone in the Christmas spirit!

“A Tree Lot Christmas” was a fast paced musical filled with colourful costumes and plenty of lively songs!

The concert would not have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the teachers and staff of IHMS. Every staff member contributed to the success of either this concert, or the K-3 concert from the previous evening. In addition, props, sound, and stage lighting were managed by junior-high students under the supervision of an IHMS teacher.

“A Tree Lot Christmas” had a nativity scene at the end of the concert

Finally, a special note of thanks to Mrs. Stanowych who coordinated and directed the entire concert. She sacrificed many hours practising with the students and perfecting the songs and the script for the concert. Her commitment helped to make the concert such a great success!
