For the 2019 season, IHMS had two girl’s basketball teams:

  • A more experienced “A” team coached by Mr. Dedio
  • A developmental or “B” team, coached by Mr. Arndt

The Girl’s “A” Team

The players on the girl’s A team consisted of a mixture of grade 6, 7 and 8 students. They were: Kristen S., Julia T., Hanna B., Eknoor D., Kennedy S., Jasmine D., Bailey D., Kristinah P., Bhavika S., Michaela V., and Natalia Z.

In regular season action, the girls played a total of 8 games. They won 7 of those games, and lost only one.
They also entered the St. Paul’s Tournament, where they played only 2 games, losing the first on Friday and winning the second the next day, placing them third overall.

During the playoffs at the end of the season, the girls won their first game, which quickly put them into the semi-finals. They then played against Gonzaga School, and unfortunately lost. The next day, they played against St. Charles and won, putting them into 3rd place overall.

The Girl’s Developmental Team

The players on the girl’s developmental team (also known as the girl’s “B” team) were: Emily A., Aimee A., Aleeza A-D., Kajeigh B-V., Gracie C., Molly C., Kyla K., Olivia N., and Laura S.
The girls “B” team played 12 times during the season, and lost only one game! Ten of these games were regular season games, and 2 were “exhibition” games where the girls played against a team with some grade 5 students. They didn’t enter any tournaments.

There are no end of season rankings for developmental teams in the Manitoba Catholic Schools Athletic Association (they play for fun and experience), but overall the IHMS girls developmental team had a fantastic season. and will form the basis of a formidable “A” team next year!
