This year, IHMS commemorated Remembrance Day on Friday, November 8th.

In the morning, a speaker from the Transconna Historical Museum came with several artifacts and spoke to the students about Winnipeg’s contribution to the two World Wars. The students were given the opportunity to see helmets, uniforms, documents and even an eighteen pound artillery shell. At 2:00 P.M. the school held an assembly in which we commemorated all those men and women who gave their lives for us and our country. Several classes performed songs and students read prayers, poems and stories about the importance of remembering our past.

Several students were also in the colour party. These students belong to various organizations such as Cadets, Plast and CYM. They stood guard as the wreath was laid at the foot of the cross and watched over it during the two minutes of silence.

We thank all the parents who attended the assembly and the staff and students who helped in putting it all together.

Lest we forget.
