After 37 years of dedicated service to IHMS, Sr. Anne Pidskalny SSMI, the school’s director and Sadochok / Kindergarten teacher, has decided to retire at the end of the 2016-17 school year.

Sr. Anne is the longest serving IHMS staff member to retire to date. After moving to Winnipeg from Toronto in 1979, she began her mission at IHMS in September of that year as the school’s new grade 2 teacher. Over the years she also taught grade 5 and assumed the role of principal for three years. But most students and parents will always remember Sr. Anne as the school’s Sadochok / Kindergarten teacher. This is a position she’s held for the past 25 years, teaching Kindergarten for 15 years and then both Kindergarten and Sadochok for the last 10 years.

In addition to her regular teaching duties, Sr. Anne also ran the after school program at IHMS, and was usually the last person to lock up and leave at the end of each school day. She worked tirelessly beyond the regular retirement age on behalf of the Sisters Servants of Mary Immaculate, the religious order who own and operate the school. Sr. Anne has been IHMS’s sole SSMI representative since 1995, and although she herself is irreplaceable, the school has been promised to receive a member of the SSMI religious order on staff for the 2017-18 school year!

When classes resume in September for the 2017-18 school year, Ms. Ola Pecuch will replace Sr. Anne as the new Sadochok / Kindergarten teacher.
